With the coronavirus-induced lockdown resulting in pendency of many Right to Information (RTI) appeals, certain information commissions have started conducting online hearings in cases through video calls. For instance, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) recently told the Bombay High Court that as a temporary arrangement during the Covid-19 pandemic, it will provide facilities for hearing appeals filed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act through virtual platforms to applicants.

Mr. Julka is a retired IAS officer of the Madhya Pradesh Cadre and was formerly the union secretary of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. He also served as the Chief Information Commissioner.
